Peach County Inmate Escapes in Byron, Residents Urged to Stay Inside
BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Peach County inmate is on the run after he escaped from Byron officers Tuesday night.
Johnathan Pettigrew was taken in for processing around 7:30 p.m., when he managed to get away. Byron Police Department Lieutenant Bryan Hunter is urging people to stay inside and be on the lookout. However, he does not believe Pettigrew is dangerous.
Authorities describe the inmate as a skinny male with lots of tattoos; he was wearing an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs at the time of the escape. Hunter said officers are focusing the search to the areas right around the Byron Police Department.
