Washington Group Names Gov. Deal One of America’s “Worst Governors”
ATLANTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Governor Nathan Deal is one of America’s worst governors–that according to a Washington-based group.
The organization called CREW, which stands for Citizens for Responsibility and ethics in Washington, says under Deal’s leadership, Georgia is “near the top in all the bad statistics and near the bottom in all of the good ones.”
Here are some of the reasons CREW cited:
Nepotism–hiring his daughter-in-law, who they say had no campaign experience, onto his staff. Cronyism–Appointing a former business partner to a state board.
CREW also says Deal used his office to benefit a top donor and arranged a high-paying job at Georgia Public Broadcasting for a political opponent. They also say he tried to block ethics investigations into his business deals.
All but one of the governors listed are Republicans.
