Bibb School District Moves First Day to August 5

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County School Board voted Thursday to change the day students go back to school.

Instead of the original start date, Thursday, August 1, students will now have an extra weekend in their summer break and won’t return until Monday, August 5.

The school district said on its Facebook page the change was made to give teachers more time to get their classrooms ready.  The district also wants parents to know the change won’t affect the end of the school year; it’ll simply make the instructional calendar two days shorter.
