Georgia Power Increase Monthly Rates

The Public Service Commission voted Tuesday to allow Georgia Power to raise electricity rates to its customers.

For average customers, the increase will add nearly $11.00 to a montly electric bill.

A spokesperson for Georgia Power says the increase is necessary to recover costs and maintain infrastructure like power poles and lines.

Georgia Power also tells 41 NBC this is the first rate increase in three years, and the rates are still lower than the national average.
