Fort Valley Farm Aims to Help People Eat Fresher Food
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Peach County U-pick farm is giving customers all the bang for their buck all in efforts to help people eat fresher food.
Garden Fresh Farm in Fort Valley lets patrons buy five or two gallon buckets and then fill them up with fresh vegetables.
The three year old business is tapping into an area that’s been given a lot of attention in recent years…our diet.
You can mix and match all of the vegetables you want, squash, tomatoes, okra, cucumbers, and even peas.
Co – Owner Stephen Feitshans says a lot of planning goes into the business and timing when crops are ready, starts at the beginning of the year.
“The season for us actually starts in February, you’re getting the land ready and then you start planning in March, very early March,” Feitshans said.
Feitshans says the farm uses very little advertising and it’s success is all from word of mouth and Facebook.
He says because of all the recent rain the store might have to end the season early to save all of the produce.
Garden Fresh Farms is open weekdays from 7AM to Noon and on Saturday from 7AM to 4PM.
