Macon-Bibb County Firefighters Investigating Sunday Morning Fatal Fire

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Macon-Bibb County Fire Investigators and Macon Police are investigating an early morning blaze that killed a man Sunday.

According to Fire Investigator Ben Gleaton, the blaze started in a bedroom of the home located at 157 Stone Wall Place. It happened around 9:30 am.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says 50-year-old Terry Floyd was found in the front of the house apparently dead when firefighters arrived on the scene.

Jones says right now the cause of death looks like smoke and soot inhalation, but he’s waiting on an autopsy to confirm that.

There were working fire detectors in the house. Jones says this is the 11th fire related death in Macon this year. He says it’s the most he’s seen in his time as Bibb County Coroner.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
