Man dies from smoke inhalation following Macon house fire

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon man is dead from smoke inhalation following a weekend house fire.

Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones says the fire happened in the kitchen of a home on Brentwood Avenue Sunday night.

Jones says 52-year-old Richard Simmons later died from smoke inhalation just after midnight Monday morning.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
