Deputies Find Scales, Marijuana, Cash in Sandersville Drug Bust
SANDERSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Sandersville man is facing drug charges after authorities found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his motel room.
According to a news release sent from Washington County Sheriff Thomas Smith, last Friday deputies received an anonymous tip of possible drug activity happening in a specific room of the Motel Clinton. When deputies arrived, Smith says 28-year-old Marcus Jefferson opened the door and they found $5,000 in cash, a set of digital scales, and approximately one pound of marijuana.
Authorities arrested Jefferson and charged him with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of more than one ounce of marijuana, use of communication facility in committing or facilitating the commission of a felony, and possession of marijuana near a park or recreational facility.
Jefferson is being held in the Washington County jail. A bond has not been set.
