UPDATE: Milledgeville Murder Suspect Turns Himself In
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Milledgeville Police say a suspect wanted for murder, turned himself in Sunday afternoon.
Major Reggie Hill with the Milledgeville Police Department said 21-year-old Quintavious Horton was taken into custody around 4:30pm. Police had a warrant out for his arrest in the shooting death of 22-year-old Kenneth Simmons.
Officers responded to the incident at the American Legion building on 430 West Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive around 1:54 Saturday morning. Hill said the suspect and victim were at a party at the location. Witnesses described an altercation taking place outside just moments before shots were fired. Simmons was shot once in the chest with a semi-automatic handgun, he was taken to the Oconee Regional Medical Center by car and was later pronounced dead.
This incident is still under investigation. Hill said MPD plans to release more details about Horton’s arrest on Monday. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Milledgeville Police Department at (478) 414-4074.
