Local Author Hopes to Transcend Race, Color, and Time

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — 87-year-old Geraldine Phillips-Davis hopes her first book “In Spite of Color From Plantations to the White House” will have a positive impact on readers for generations. A native of Fitzgerald, GA Davis now resides in Warner Robins.

She is a retired counselor of the Miami School System and former columnist and feature writer for The Miami Times.

Her new book is a story about a friendship between a slave and a slave master.

“My emphasis was on how trust and friendship can transcend ethnic groups, language, color, and racial barriers,” said Davis.

Davis will be at Barnes & Noble located at 5080 Riverside Drive on Thursday, May 16. She will be one of the guest authors featured during the Local Author’s Night from 6 to 8P.M. Her book will be available to purchase during the book signing and can also be found on Amazon.com.
