New Sign at Washington Park in Macon
MACON, Georgia (41 NBC/WMGT) – The College Hill Alliance unveiled a new Washington Park sign on the corner of College Street and Washington Avenue on Friday.
The sign is a part of a Knight Neighborhood challenge grant that was put together to make areas in the College Hill corridor easier to find.
It’s the first time the park will have any identification signs.
College Hill Alliance Director of Communication Jessica Walden told 41 NBC why the sign is so important to have in the area.
“One of our biggest goals is creating a sense of place and with wayfinding signage, that’s exactly what it’s doing, it’s creating a physical infrastructure that defines that sense of place,” Walden said.
Friday’s unveiling is the first part of several more steps that will include directional signs, a sign at Tattnall Square Park, and a map kiosk for people visiting the city.
The $130,000 grant will help beautify areas of the city to help visitors find their way in the area.
