Congressman Barrow Hopeful for Partisan Compromise on National Budget Cuts
DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The recent compromise on air traffic control in Congress gives one Georgia congressman hope that partisan politics can be put aside to tackle national budget cuts.
Congressman John Barrow says this is great example of prioritizing. He believes the problem could have been solved before the furloughs and thousands of flight delays if congress originally did its job.
“The bad news is Congress only did it when it pinched members of Congress, that’s embarrassing,” Barrow said. “But it shames Congress into doing the broader job at looking at other essential things we’re doing in this country and to do Congress’ responsibility of setting priorities, something good will come out of it.”
Barrow hopes Congress will take this as a lesson learned and that lawmakers will continue working together.
