Belk Celebrates 125 Years of Business with Service
MACON, Georgia (41 NBC/WMGT) – Belk is celebrating 125 years of business and they’re doing it by going out into the community and celebrating with 125 days of service.
Belk and the volunteer organization Points of Light have come together to celebrate the department store’s 125 years of business
Belk employees went to Ingram-Pye Elementary school in Macon for community service to give students art and a lot more.
Mary Ann Snyder is the Operations team manager at the Belk in Macon, she and her team painted, created art, built book cases, and even a picnic table for kids at Ingram-Pye.
“The schools got to pick what they wanted, we gave them some choices and they picked out what they wanted or needed so it was something that will benefit the school,” Snyder said.
The days of service are a dedication to improving Title 1 schools in low income communities.
Employees will also organize in-store book drives for the school.
Ingram-Pye’s Principal, Dr. Sonya Thomas, will be getting a makeover provided by Belk worth up to $300.
With that she’ll be able to choose Belk clothes, makeup, and merchandise.
