“Cirque du Soleil: Quidam” Dazzles in Macon
MACON, Georgia (41NBC-WMGT) – The Macon Centreplex has been transformed into a world of high-flying acrobatics, and death defying stunts.
It takes a lot to put on Cirque du Soleil: Quidam; a healthy body, lots of training and absolutely no fear of heights.
Kata, a performer from Hungary, keeps a rigorous lifestyle to stay in shape. “You have to take care of yourself as much as you can; I train every day. Plus I do the show every day only two days off per week,” she says.
Cirque du Soleil is an international spectacle; in fact, there are over 25 countries represented in Quidam.
The cast is a veritable potpourri of nationalities…each cast member bringing an explosion of talent that wows audiences the world over, and this is the first time they’ve come to Macon.
“You guys used to need to travel to Atlanta to see a show, now we’re bringing it to your backyard,” says publicist Jessica LeBoeuf, who explained how the show is expanding its reach to smaller venues across the country.
Backstage, lots of prep goes into putting on the show. The acrobats have to work out constantly. Ukrainian performer Andrii showed me the mirrors all the actors use to put on their colorful makeup. Next to the mirrors are dozens of wigs.
Each Cirque du Soleil show tells a story…and this one’s no different.
“We’ll tell you the story of Zoe, a little girl who goes into an imaginary world to escape a boring reality and try to find herself in life,” explains LeBoeuf.
Just like Zoe, you’ll be transported to a world beyond your imagination, this weekend at the Macon Centreplex. For ticket information visit maconcentreplex.com.
