Local Gamers Rev Up for ‘Need for Speed’ Filming

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Since film crews with “Need for Speed” announced they would make a pit stop in Macon, the video game that inspired the motion picture has been flying off shelves. The Hollywood buzz is creating big business at the Land of the Gods video game store.

Gamer Neressa Miller picked up her copy today. After a few games, she can see why Macon was the ideal location.

“The ones that’s going around the curves cause downtown Macon has a lot of curves,” Miller said.

The video game “Need for Speed” came out in 1994. Since its release the game sold 100 million copies on several different consoles. James Card owns several copies.

“When they first came out on Playstation 2, I had ‘Need for Speed’, that was the first one I picked up,” Card said, “then they had the ‘Need for Speed: Most Wanted.”

The self-proclaimed speed game expert is excited about the movie, but he really wants to see the Mustang.

“See some cars man that’s it,” he said.
