Two Middle Georgia Regional Library affiliates receive micro-grants for services

JEFFERSONVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two Middle Georgia Regional Library affiliate branches will receive funding to extend their services.

The grants are from the Rural Libraries and Social Wellbeing Project within the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The program caters to libraries with populations less than 7,500.

Oglethorpe Public Library and Twiggs County Public Library each received $1,000 micro-grants. The seed money can be used to extend library services according to the staff’s wishes.

Middle Georgia Regional Library Director Jennifer Lautzenheiser says she is so proud to have this opportunity for the communities of Oglethorpe and Twiggs.

According to MGRL Marketing Coordinator Sylvia O’Bear, 98 applications were considered for the funding, and 20 were selected. The branches will receive their seed money during the last week of March.
