Magnolia Street Soapbox Derby Ready to Roll despite Rain

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Despite overcast skies and rain, competitors in the Magnolia Street Soapbox Derby were ready to roll Sunday afternoon.

In colorful cars and costumes, participants lined Magnolia Street to put the pedal to the metal. With umbrellas at hand, crowds were there cheering them on. Organizers say an estimated 500 hundred people were in attendance. About 20 cars from across the city competed.

It’s the fourth year of Second Sunday in the park, and the fifth annual Magnolia Street Soapbox Derby. This year’s winner was the defending champion Barefoot Tavern.
