Ellington Won’t Run for Macon-Bibb Commission
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon city councilman announced Thursday he will not run for a spot on the new consolidated government.
Tom Ellington was elected to city council in 2007. He says he is grateful for his time serving the city of Macon.
Even though he won’t run for a Macon-Bibb Commission seat, Ellington says he will still help with the big merger.
“There’s also a lot of work to do between now and the end of this year, so the next nine months are going to be very busy,” he said. “I’m committed to continue doing that work right up to the end of my term.”
Ellington says he may consider running for office later on, but his name will not be on the ballot this summer. He says after he leaves office, he will still serve the community privately.
