Thousands Without Power in Middle Georgia
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -Thousands are without power across the Middle Georgia region.
41NBC spoke with Georgia Power officials who say there are 26,000 outages across Middle Georgia,
14,000 of those in Macon alone.
For Flint Energies, there are nearly 3,000 without power. There are also numerous reports of downed trees, powerlines, and damaged traffic lights. Macon Police and fire officials are working on the scene in those areas to clear them of damage and debris.
41NBC’s Jasmine Williams reports all of the power is out along Zebulon and Bass Road in Macon, with downed power lines and possible live wires. Bibb deputies and Middle Georgia React are on the scene clearing the area. Deputies are directing traffic away from the area as well.
Earlier Monday evening, a tree fell onto a house on Allen Road in Macon, trapping a family inside, according to Macon-Bibb fire officials.
The Baldwin County Fire department reports on their Twitter account that stop lights are out, as well as power throughout the county.
