Mother of 3 Killed in Macon House Fire Charged with Murder, Neighbor Recalls Scene
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon Police arrested the mother of three children killed in a house fire on the morning of February 24, and charged her with felony murder.
Like most people in the community who saw the house fire, Devesha Ryhmes is still in shock.
“This is just news to me,” Ryhmes said, “I didn’t know.”
29-year-old Colethia Fayelicia Williams was arrested at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon by US Marshals. She will be booked into the Bibb County LEC on 3 counts of Felony Murder for the deaths of three of her four children, Daija, Nykhia, and Jammarrian. Her fourth child, J’Lon, was treated at the burn center in Augusta and released. Police say she left the children there when the fire started, long enough for the blaze to engulf the home.
But Ryhmes, Williams’ neighbor and close friend, denies the neighborhood rumors that Williams was at the night club at the time of the blaze.
“There was no way that she was going out that night,” Ryhmes said, “no way.”
Williams is also charged with four counts of 2nd Degree Cruelty to Children and one count Felony False Statements and Writings.
The G-Ryderz Motorcycle Club of Macon has planned a charity ride for the Williams family. The ride is this Saturday at Central Church of Christ at 11 a.m.
