Houston County Sheriff: Two Fires on the Same Street Under Investigation

BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Authorities in Houston County are investigating whether two house fires are related.

Sunday afternoon, a fire on Amelia Drive near Highway 41 destroyed one home and damaged two others.

According to Houston County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Jon Holland, that same day, on the same street, a small fire broke out at a vacant home. It appears the fire may have been set by a child or someone trying to keep warm. Holland said investigators believe it was set intentionally and is under investigation.

The Houston County Fire and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office are investigating both blazes.
