Downtown Eastman Fire Ruled Accidental
EASTMAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Wednesday’s blaze in downtown Eastman was ruled an accident.
According to Glenn Allen, spokesman for the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, the fire started in the attic of Soo’s Fashion, which is on the corner of Main Street and Third Avenue.
Allen says it was an electrical fire and destroyed the business. The flames then spread from Soo’s to a second business next door called Lunchbox at Roy’s.
Both businesses were a total loss. A third store had smoke and water damage.
The owner of Soo’s Fashion told 41NBC he doesn’t know what he will do next because he doesn’t have insurance.
Allen says insurance adjusters will be out sometime this week or the beginning of next week to determine how much damage was done.
