Clemency Hearing Set for Convicted Killer Andrew Cook
JACKSON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A convicted killer will have his clemency hearing next week, just two days before he is scheduled to die by lethal injection.
The State Board of Pardons and Paroles has invited representatives for condemned inmate Andrew Cook to meet with them this Tuesday at 9am at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, to advocate for him.
Cook was found guilty back in 1998 for shooting and killing Grant Patrick Hendrickson and Michele Lee Cartagena in 1995, while they were at Lake Juliette. According to court reports, Cook did not know the couple, and killed them in cold blood.
The Georgia Supreme Court later upheld the conviction and affirmed the jury’s verdict.
41NBC will be at the execution of Andrew Cook, and will have a full report next Thursday.
