New Grant Offers Downtown Macon Residents Free Dental Work
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – If you live in downtown Macon and you need some dental work done, call Community Health Works (C.H.W.), they’ll set you up for free.
Thanks to The City of Macon’s Community Development Block Grant, $15,000 has been awarded to Community Health Works to offer residents within city limits and who meet specific income criteria, free dental work.
From dental screenings, cleanings, even some extraction work, this is the second year C.H.W. is offering this opportunity for low income and eligible city residents.
According to Maggie McCune of C.H.W., there is a strong correlation between poor oral health and several different types of severe health consequences.
“And economic factors can play a large role in poor oral health,” McCune added. “Someone can’t afford dental insurance or has access to health services, then they’re a lot less likely to see a dentist on a regular basis, if ever.”
To get more information on how to qualify for the free dental care, call Community Health Works at 478-254-5205.
