Free Dramatic Arts Classes Offered by the Macon-Bibb Parks and Rec

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon-Bibb County Parks and Recreation announced that they will be begin offering five free dramatic art classes as a pilot cultural arts program starting in March.

The classes will be geared toward children between the ages of 3 and 15, offering up traditional theatre instruction and beyond. The goal of the pilot program is to test the waters for a more traditional 6-week program that would begin in April, which would include instruction in music, dance, visual art, and creative writing. There is also a potential to offer these courses for adults, as well.

Some of the instructors participating in this program include Macon’s art community leaders, such as Shelton Land, Lisa and Richard Owens, Moira Glennon-Potter, Weldon Ledbetter, and Y-O Latimore.

There will be an open house on Saturday, February 23rd from noon until 2pm, at the LH Williams Community Center located on 325 Pursley Street. During the open house, parents and children will have the chance to meet with the instructors and register for classes.

The course offerings include instruction on monologues, basic theatre concepts of a play, Tiny Tot Theatre for younger children, and Theatre 101 for the older set.
