Montravius Adams Chooses Auburn over Alabama, Clemson, Georgia
VIENNA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – ESPNU was on hand Wednesday morning in Dooly County for high-profile prospect Montravius Adams’ signing ceremony.
The whole student body of Dooly County High School was there to watch 5-star defensive tackle Montravius Adams choose between Alabama, Auburn, Clemson and Georgia.
Live on ESPNU, Adams made his decision. He’ll play for Auburn University.
“The family, the people, the coaches, the players,” says Adams of why he chose the school. “They’ve got a tradition of winning and I want to help them out and get them back to what they do.”
“He couldn’t go wrong with any of the four schools and I’m real proud for him and for his family,” says head coach Jimmy Hughes. “It’s just a great day for our community here in Dooly County.”
Another defensive player for the Bobcats is also heading to the Yellowhammer State.
Jaylen Daniels will play defensive back for Troy University.
“The thing about Troy was they showed a lot of love and my coach explained to me that it’d be a great college for me and it’ll fit me,” says Daniels. “And they’re growing.”
And last but not least, Jasean Wiley will play defensive tackle for Missisippi Delta Community College. He says early playing time was a key factor in his decision.
“I’ve been wanting to go there,” says Wiley. “I knew I could have a chance to start and be a great player there and play the 1-technique for them.”
Three signings from a 1A school — something Coach Jimmy Hughes says the community should be proud of.
“These three guys have done what they’re supposed to do academically and athletically to get to a point where they’ll have the opportunity to futher their career and their education,” says Hughes. “I’m very proud of them.”
Adams tells us he’ll always have love for his home state but Auburn is where he’ll go to college for the next three to four years.
Former Georgia defensive line coach Rodney Garner spent plenty of time recruiting the big guy, but Garner recently left UGA for the Plains.
Adams took a last minute visit to Auburn this past weekend, and that’s what made him decide to join the Tigers.
