Cherry Blossom Festival 2013 Artwork Unveiled
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – In a room filled with pink, the 2013 Cherry Blossom festival’s official artwork was unveiled.
Artist Sterling Everett was inspired by Sunday brunches in Washington park when he painted this year’s piece titled “Macon’s Bountiful Beauty”. The painting includes Mercer University’s Law School, camellias and tons of cherry blossoms. This is Everett’s third year working with the festival. He designed the event’s prints in 1987 and 2000.
“And seeing all the people enjoying the park, picnics and jazz, I thought it all needs to come together,” Everett said.
Mark Ballard designed the pin and porcelain art for the festival. Both Ballard and Everett’s pieces can be purchased at the Cherry Blossom gift shop at the Library ballroom on Mulberry Street. This year’s theme is “It’s a pink, pink, pink world”.
Cherry Blossom Festival organizers plan to make more announcements about the festival and possible leadership changes later on this week.
