Spokesperson for the Georgia Department of Transportation District 2, Cissy McNure says the inside lane is open. She says there’s no estimate for when the lane will re-open at this time.

McNure also talked about yesterday’s chain of events. She says GDOT received a 911 call Wednesday morning regarding low visibility on I-16 before the first crash happened, and crews immediately went to work.

Spokesperson for GDOT District 2, Cissy McNure says are 7:50 Wednesday morning, the maintenance department got an emergency. Crews immediately responded and were directed to put up signs.

McNure couldn’t confirm whether the low visibility was due to heavy fog conditions or a nearby controlled burn that Georgia State Patrol officials say may have caused the first wreck.
