Two Central Seniors Commit to Vanderbilt, Albany State During Emotional Ceremony

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — It was an emotional morning Wednesday at Central High School as seniors Boe Bailey and Nigel Bowden teared up while reflecting on their journeys.

The non-traditional signing ceremony began with remarks from Central’s head football coach, and principal. Then, the floor was opened to the two young men who spoke about the challenges that brought them toward a brighter future.

Defensive Linebacker Bowden, who signed with Vanderbilt, mentioned his brother’s passing as a motivating factor during his time on the football field. Bowden’s impassioned speech drew a wave of emotion from the crowd. His mother and girlfriend were spotted wiping away tears during his remarks.

Bailey mentioned the support of his family and of course his baby girl. Bailey will head to Albany State in the fall. As he walked back to the signing table, Bailey shared a long embrace with his teammate.

Both young men thanked God, and their families for helping them achieve their great accomplishments.
