Wilkinson County Teacher Charged with Child Molestation

IRWINTON, Georgia (41 NBC/WMGT) – A Wilkinson County teacher is charged with child molestation after investigators say he had “inappropriate contact” with a student at Wilkinson County High School. That’s according to school spokesman Jonathan Jackson.

Cornelius Dante Jones was arrested Monday evening by the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office. According to Jackson, Jones turned in his resignation earlier in the day Monday following the accusations.

Jones is being held at the Wilkinson County Detention Center and the investigation is still under way. 

Wilkinson County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Aaron Geter says, “Any allegation of harm against a student is taken seriously and we are working with the proper authorities as they investigate.”
