Teachers’ Union Pickets Bibb School Board Meeting, Protests Dallemand’s Renewed Contract
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Picketers from an Atlanta-area teachers’ union set up outside the building, protesting Dr. Dallemand’s renewed contract.
Members of the Metro Association of Classroom Educators (MACE), stood outside the Bibb School Board building,
Protesting the December 3rd vote, that renewed Dallemand’s contract for another 3 years. They say the Board pulled a “switcharoo,” since they didn’t alert the public that they would be voting on that issue at that time.
The Vice Chairman of MACE asks that the board take a closer look at the contract and re-vote on it.
“The citizens should be outraged by something like this,” says Norreese Haynes, COO of MACE. “If the board members decide to cancel his contract, I think the board is going in the right direction…so the public is aware of what’s going on.”
Haynes is a former member of the Clayton County School Board.
Superintendent Dr. Dallemand was not at Thursday’s board meeting. Member Lynn Farmer said he had to deal with personal matters. 41NBC spotted him leaving the building with a security guard.
