Coach Barney Hester Leaving Tattnall for Howard

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A unanimous vote approves Barney Hester as the new head football coach, athletic director, and teacher at Howard High School.

After more than 31 years with Tattnall Square Academy in Macon, Hester says it’s time to “seek new opportunities.”

A release sent to 41NBC news today from Tattnall Square says Hester will not return for the 2013/2014 school year.

Tattnall wishes Coach Hester the best and says they will start looking for a new head coach right away.

“Coach Hester’s a known name in Macon and Bibb County,” says school board member, Jason Downey.  “It’s a great hire for Howard High School and the Bibb County School System.  I would expect that he’ll have Howard High School going strong immediately–just his impeccable
reputation and talents, it’s gonna be an exciting time for Howard High.”

Howard has won just five games in its five-year history.
