Candlelight Vigil Planned in Macon for Connecticut School Shooting Victims

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The public is invited to attend a candlelight vigil in downtown Macon, aimed at offering support to the families impacted by the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

Wednesday, starting 6PM, the city will pray together at Rosa Parks Square, light candles, and observe a moment of silence.

Mayor Robert Reichert offered his thoughts on the tragedy.  “We are grief stricken by the events that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT last Friday, and we want to come together to show our support for the families of the victims and express our hope that future acts of violence like this can be prevented,” says Mayor Reichert.
