Hancock County Schools Invest in iPads for Students
SPARTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Hancock County schools launched one of its largest technology upgrades to-date; by putting iPads in the hands of all middle and high school students.
Nearly 600 brand new iPads were sent home with Tuesday afternoon. Parents, students and teachers received a tutorial on how to use their new tool. Teachers will also recieve a new iPad and will work to integrate the technology into every subject. Students are encouraged to learn by using apps, the Internet and even games. Hancock County School Superintendent Gwendolyn Reeves wants every student to have access to a computer.
“We have to teach the way they learn,” Reeves said, “and they are learning through technology, so we had to upgrade and today we upgraded.”
Reeves said the technology upgrade was provided by various fund including Special Local Options Sales Tax money.
Parents and students were required to attend the seminar in order to receive an iPad. Each one has a unique serial number and will be monitored by the school systems IT department.
