Dallemand Accepts Contract Renewal

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Superintendent of Bibb County Schools officially accepted his new contract for another three years in the position.

Dr. Romain Dallemand’s new contract begins January 1, 2013 and runs through December 31, 2015. At a called board meeting on December 3, members voted 5-3 to extend the contract. The new contract will replace the original, which was set to expire on June 30, 2013.

The new contract outlines Dallemand’s base pay will remain the same–at $198,000 annually. His car allowance doubled from $400 a month to $800. He was included in the board’s group life insurance policy, valued at $50,000 plus two times his base salary. The new contract says a life insurance policy of $1 million. In addition to sick days that he has already accrued, he will be given 50 more in January 2013.

“The decision by the Board to offer an extension to my contract demonstrates its commitment to
continuous improvements that are outlined in The Macon Miracle,” Dr. Dallemand said in a news release. “Obviously there is much work to do in improving student outcomes, but we are extremely confident that the continued implementation of the Strategic Plan will yield the type of results our students deserve and our community expects.”

Board members Gary Bechtel, Susan Sipe and Lynn Farmer opposed the contract extension Monday.

Newly elected board members Thelma Dillard, Jason Downey, and Lester Miller had no say in the contract extension, which would span the majority of their four year terms.
