Sen. Isakson: Take Politics Out of Fiscal Cliff Talks

WASHINGTON, D.C. (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson says House Speaker John Boehner’s proposed plan for the U.S. economy is a starting point for negotiations. Now, it’s time for both parties to put personal politics aside.

“That’s the problem. You’ve got too many people playing the blame game, and the partisan game and not enough people playing the people’s game and so, if we can get to a table start negotiating in good faith, use Simpson-Bowles as a platform to work from, we have a chance to solve this problem,” Isakson told 41NBC over the phone.

Isakson says he’s confident that if the president and the house bring a plan to the senate based on the foundation of Simpson-Bowles, the senate would likely sign off on a deal.
