Gov. Office of Highway Safety Launches Operation Safe Holidays
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – If the number of deaths on Georgia’s roadways continue at the same rate, by the end of 2012 the number of traffic fatalities will exceed 2011.
Today, the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety launched their campaign “Operation: Safe Holidays.” The goal is to curb the rising number of fatalities on the road over the holiday season.
Alex Sorohan dropped into Macon with a very clear message.
“He looked down at his phone. he swerved into another lane, hit a car head on, and his crash killed him instantly,” says Sorohan.
Her brother Caleb was sending a text message when he died. Her family lobbied Georgia lawmakers to pass Caleb’s Law in 2010. It bans texting and driving.
