Macon State Part-Time Education Degree Info Session Set for December 5

MACON, Georgia (Macon State College)– Macon State College’s School of Education is hosting a recruitment fair for people interested in the part-time track of the bachelor of science in early childhood/special education at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, in room 231 of the Education Building on the Macon Campus.

Students in the part-time program take classes in the evenings. Part-time students enter the program as part of a cohort, meaning they advance through the courses with the same classmates. The part-time program includes all courses taught in the full-time program, including field/clinical work. Students enter the program as juniors and are  expected to complete it in two and a half years, including two consecutive summers.

A typical full load is 15 to 17 credit hours per semester; students in the part-time education program take 9 or 10 credit hours per semester.

The program is designed for two categories of people: current paraprofessionals who can spend at least four hours per week in their schools fulfilling field experience requirements; and people who, for whatever reason, need to take classes primarily in the evenings in order to finish a degree.

Reservations for the recruitment fair are encouraged and should be emailed to marsha.hall@maconstate.edu. For information about the part-time degree program, email loleta.sartin@maconstate.edu or molly.kimsey@maconstate.edu.
