Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office Receives One of the State’s Highest Awards

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office received one of the highest awards at the Governor’s challenge ceremony Friday afternoon.

More than 500 law enforcement agencies from all cross the state met in Macon to honor it’s top cops. The 12th Annual Governor’s Challenge recognized law enforcement groups of all sizes from all over the state. In order to win an award, agencies had to demonstrate highway safety, education and innovation.

Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Director Harris Blackwood said it’s important for law enforcement statewide to work together.

“Enforcement doesn’t stop at the county lines or the city limit,” Blackwood said, “It is a statewide thing and this is a statewide effort to work together and make the roads as safe as possible.”
