Eye Doctors Warn Consumers of Dangers Caused by Fake Contact Lenses, Some Stores Selling Them Illegally

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Halloween is only two days away, but before you go out and buy your costume, there’s a jeepers creepers product that could damage your peepers.

41 NBC found out some colored or decorative contact lenses can severely damage your eyes and stores that sell them are doing it illegally.

“I started last year, I bought them for last Halloween and then this year again I bought another pair for Halloween,” Madye Carter said.

Carter says she bought decorative contact lenses online for Halloween and got them without her eye doctor’s approval.

“I had to ask for a prescription that was weaker and they went ahead and filled it which I don’t think they’re suppose to.”
