Local Woman Battling Bibb Co. District Attorney’s Office Over Open Records Request
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A local woman says the Bibb County District Attorney’s office is giving her the runaround and taking too long to respond to her open records request.
According to Georgia law, the DA’s office must respond to the request within three days and let the requester know when to expect the records.
Elizabeth Anderson says she’s filed several requests, including some as far back as September. She says still hasn’t received anything.
“To me it boils down to integrity. If Mr. Winters had any at all, he would have already provided these public records,” Anderson said. “It does make you wonder what’s being hidden when things are delayed and postponed. I mean it’s been well over six weeks since my first request.
