Local Red Cross Sends More Volunteers for Sandy Relief Efforts
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The American Red Cross in Middle Georgia is sending more people to help with Sandy relief efforts.
Two volunteers left from Macon to White Plains, New York Saturday to lend a helping hand.
Elizabth Wood is a licensed counselor in Milledgeville. For years, Wood has volunteered with Red Cross as a mental health volunteer. She’s believes it important to help others in their time of need.
“I think it’s so important for people to volunteer,” Wood said, “For me, I love the ability to give back. We get so much from other people in the community. This is my way of giving back to people that are in need. Because you never know, it could be you.”
The volunteers arrived in White Plains to receive their assignments. From there, the two will help counsel and talk with families affected by the disaster.
