First Week of Early Voting Ends Strong
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The first week of early voting is coming to an end and Middle Georgia voters are still showing up at the polls in large numbers.
Bibb County Board of Elections Supervisor Elaine Carr estimates more than a thousand people a day are casting their ballots this year during early voting.
She said it may seem like a lot but the numbers are about the same as the 2008 presidential election. The one thing that is different are the demographics.
“I’ve seen a lot of young people coming through the line this year, as well as a lot of older people registering for the first time in their lives,” Carr said.
Carr said the average wait time is still about 40 minutes so be patient.
