RAFB: New Commander Ready to Lead 116th Air Control Wing
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – In true Air Force tradition, the 116th Air Control Wing commander, Brigadier General Bob Welsh, passed the flag to Colonel Kevin Clotfelter this morning at a formal change of command ceremony.
Welsh didn’t say goodbye to his 16 years serving in the 116th at Robins Air Force Base without a few tears from him, and his wife. “I shouldn’t have looked at you,” Welsh says tearfully to his wife Holly.
During the ceremony, family, friends, former 116th commanders, and supporters of Colonel Clotfelter stood up at the request of Adjutant General, for the Georgia National Guard, Major General Jim Butterworth.
“Colonel Clotfelter, there’s your strength, there’s your support my friend,” said Butterworth.
