Hundreds Walk in Warner Robins for Suicide Prevention
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Hundreds of Middle Georgia families and several organizations joined forces to prevent suicide.
The 6th annual Middle Georgia started in Fountain Park in Warner Robins and tracked through neighborhoods. The Phoenix Center, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Central Georgia hosted the event to raise money and awareness.
Debbie Mashburn’s son Landon committed suicide just one week before his 30th birthday. Mashburn and her family members walked in his honor.
“We’ve got to do something to stop people from committing suicide,” Mashburn said, “If we come out and take the stigma off of it maybe we can stop another family from having to go through this pain.”
