Peach Co. Coroner Candidate Disqualified
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A candidate for Peach County coroner was disqualified Monday, for allegedly lying on his qualification application.
Elections supervisor Michelle Riley tells us Otis Daniel Jr. will not appear on the November ballot, after a hearing at the Peach County courthouse this afternoon to determine his eligibility.
He was convicted of burglary in 1972, which is a felony. The application tells the applicant to confirm that he or she has never been convicted of a felony. Riley tells us Daniel did not do that.
Daniel was running against incumbent Kerry Rooks, and is a former Fort Valley fire chief.
