Attendance Up at Georgia National Fair

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia National Fair is leaving town after another record breaking year.

After 11 straight days of nice weather, the 2012 fair was the second best in it’s history. More than 445,000 people attended the fair this year, a 1.2% increase from last year. According to Georgia National Fair’s Director of Public Relations Michele Treptow, more people rode rides on the midway than ever before and vendors sales were strong. But concert sales still didn’t reach organizers expectations. Treptow said planners will meet to discuss that they can do different in the future.

“We’re going to see how we can not only improve the quality of the concert but look at other issues,” Treptow said, “There’s always room to improve your product.”

The fair’s headliner concert featuring Kellie Pickler and Joe Nichols wasn’t a sellout like past years. The Hot Chelle Rae concert only sold a thousand tickets in the arena that seats 8,000.

Next year’s fair theme will be “There’s Magic at the Fair”.
