Bibb Co. Commissioners Roll Up Their Sleeves To Raise Flu Shot Awareness
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County leaders are doing everything they can to raise flu shot awareness.
County commissioners rolled up their sleeves to get a flu shot on Tuesday. They hope this will encourage residents to take a few minutes and get their own shot.
Commissioner Bert Bivins also wants to let the community know there are several different ways you can prevent spreading the flu. He says you should keep your hands away from your eyes, nose and mouth. He also encourages everyone to cover your mouth with a tissue or cough into your sleeve. And above all else, if you get sick you need to stay home.
“We just got to put those things in people’s heads so it is a matter of routine,” Bivins said. “Then when we have a problem with the flu, we won’t have as much trouble trying to educate people.”
Bibb County employees can get their own free flu shot. Workers at the county operations building off Knight Road can get their free flu shot on Wednesday. All other employees can get their free flu shot at the courthouse on October 24th.
