Gun Found at Rutland High School

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County Campus Police found a gun inside of a student’s vehicle at Rutland High School.

According to a news release from the school district, administrators received a report of a gun on campus around 10am. The investigation led campus police to a locked car in one of the parking lots.

They were given permission to search the car by an 18-year-old female student. Inside, they found a small caliber handgun. The weapon was retrieved without incident.

The student was arrested and charged with felony possession of a weapon on school grounds. The school was able to return to normal operations after the gun was confiscated. Parents of both Rutland High School, and Middle School were notified by an automated phone message from the principal of the high school. A letter was also sent home.
