Middle Georgia Greek Festival, Big Success

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Organizers and vendors say this year’s Greek Festival was a big success.

Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church’s 5th Annual Greek Festival was a celebration of music, art and faith. Vendors sold traditional Greek pieces, musicians played classic Greek music and of course, there was plenty of authentic Greek food. Lori Johnson stops by the festival every year and said it never disappoints.

“Of course the food, but I also like the music and I also like to watch dancers. I love the spanakopita,” Johnson said.

Nomikos Duvlaris and his father sell Greek jewelry and clothing.

“It’s been awesome, lots of people buying which is great. It’s kind of nice to know that people are interested,” Duvlaris said.

Holy Cross Greek Orthodox’s Father John Stefero said he enjoyed spending the weekend educating people about the church and its traditions.

“We’re really here to share our faith and show that we have the Greek Orthodox faith here,” Stefero said.

The money raised from the festival will go back to the church and some of it will be donated to the Children’s Hospital.
